The brutal killing of three innocent Staffers of the DMK-controlled Tamil Daily Dinakaran points to the fast diminishing tolerance in the Indian politics towards the political rivals. This does not bode well for the polity. In the instant episode three innocents had to pay a heavy price primarily due to the animosity between the sanguine relations and the rigor mortis of the police who miserably failed to discharge their duties to save three precious lives being butchered before them.
Political succession war has always been a serious matter in the annals of the Indian polity since time immemorial. In dynastic politics it is even more labyrinthine. It assumes alarming proportions when the patriarch is unsure of and chooses not to anoint his successor. It is believed that the eldest child has primogeniture to inherit the title from the patriarch. If denied the eldest loses his control and goes berserk. This was what has happened in
The DMK has a violent political past. They had zero tolerance in political matters. Now the very same violent past is haunting the DMK. It may not be easy for the party as it is already deeply into internecine factionalism and polarization towards three to four power-centres. The question now the political observers are asking is whether The Kalaingar Mr.Karunanidhi will be compelled to watch the dog-fight for power during his life-time or the power-struggle will snow-ball after his life-time.
