Fettered by Radio-Tags
The Tri-Valley University fraud betrays the chinks in the US University system and Immigration and Custom Enforcement rules there. Whatever may be the compelling reasons for the US authorities, radio-tagging the students, who are already duped by the sham University, is far-fetched and smacks of highhandedness towards the student immigrants. In the first place, the Indian students are cheated and taken for a ride literally. One can imagine the deep anguish and the pain their parents must be undergoing back in India. Over there, the ICE has treated them like outlaws akin to African Claves of yester years by placing them under the draconian ISAP [Intense Supervision and Appearance Programme]. The Indian Government has rightly condemned the uncalled-for over reaction. Now, the government should move further and extend all possible legal assistance and financial support to the beleaguered Indian students, who have become the unfortunate victims of the unexpected system failure in an alien land known for unsurpassed university system and stringent immigration rules.
