Spiritual Guru Swami Ramdev

In calling the revered Yoga and Spiritual Guru Swami Ramdev name a “Bloody Indian Dog”, Ninong Ering, Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh, has entered into an unseemly controversy. He stands to lose the support of any patriotic Indian for that matter. The remarks – patently abusive and unparliamentarily in tone and content- lack in both decency and civility. Whatever may be the provocation, the Congress MP should not have used these disparaging remarks as Ninong Ering, Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh, is not staying in a foreign country to castigate anyone choosing the label BLOODY INDIAN DOG. In prefixing the nationalistic word INDIAN, he has given a long arm to his detractors to dexterously use it against him and the party he has been representing. This apart, the MP should forthwith clarify why he chose to prefix INDIAN while rebuking the Spiritual Guru. The Congress must immediately dissociate from his remarks and attempt to control the damage the avoidable controversy has already generated before it becomes too late and damages the party’s reputation for ever. More so, this is basically a friendly spar between two individuals. Admittedly, this is not the first time the Spiritual Guru has kicked up storm or at the receiving end of controversies. In the past too, he effortlessly picked up gauntlet against political stalwarts and stood to his ground bravely on a couple of times. Therefore, on his part, the Spiritual Guru must also refrain from entering into avoidable controversies and spawn hate politics. It is a well acknowledged fact that Politics is a highly contaminated cesspool. Moreover, any efforts to politically cash in on his stature as an admired spiritual Guru by converting his popular spiritual movement into a socio-political organisation is seriously fraught with the danger of losing his mass support and popular base.
