WAR AGAISNT PAKISTANI TERROR

The US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's Good Conduct certificate to Pakistan amounts to diplomatic somersault to please the Pakistani establishment. In doing so, the US yet again confirmed that they are not ready to abandon Pakistan in their so-called “War Against Terror”. Either this can be a strategic move to trap Pakistan to yield more and more military space to American forces or out of its own difficulty to dump Pakistan at this stage owing to military compulsions. What is alarming is the double speak of the US administration about the role of Pakistan in harbouring the terrorists as a rogue state. The US Secretary of State’s fulsome Clean Chit to Pakistan will not be considered earnestly even by Pakistanis as they themselves know well that Pakistan is the crucible of pan-Islamic Terror, protecting all wanted notorious terrorists inside. The sole beneficiaries of her remarks would be the Pak President and the Pak Army Chief, et al, who have been uncomfortable following the raid of US SEALs and merciless US killing of Bin Laden in Abottabad. Both Pakistan administration and the US administration may be engaged in denial mode due to their political and military compulsions, but the truth of the involvement of Pakistani establishment in shielding Bin Laden cannot be shrouded in more white lies and more white lies. The saner domestic voice will compel America to do a course-correction sooner rather than later. Similarly, the allies of the US cannot afford to be party to this US acquiescing of Pak’s Crimes against the humanity blindly toeing the American line. The US had better call a spade and spade and prevented Pak from running with the hare and hunting with the hound to make the world more safe and less tension-free, as the growing terrorism is only to the benefit of Pakistani establishment who have all along used the military aid to reinforce its military preparedness against India and certainly not against the terrorists.
